A lapbook is a (coloured manilla) file folder with mini-books, folded pages of graphs, stories, charts,
diagrams, vocab, maps, biographies, timelines, and other written work and pictures glued in,
laid out in a creative manner. Each one will be different according to topic and creator.

Lapbooking can be thought of as “scrapbooking meets home schooling” and is an inexpensive way
to present books and literature, research topics and unit studies.

Lapbooking is a great vehicle to teach CONTENT and PROCESS.
The CONTENT comes from topics that interest the students [delight-driven] - this brings about more
internal-based motivation and therefore greater learning from and ownership of the work.
The PROCESS is what will help the children through life - research, planning, creativity,
presentation, evaluation.
