The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Lapbooks we’ve done and got pics for:

Caterpillars to Butterflies

1. Nathan, 5yo, focussed on Eric Carle’s classic book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. The picture came from the inside cover page of an audio tape/book set called “Bugs”. Great for my boy, who loves singing, to get reading. Note we don’t fold shutter style, but turn folder ‘upside down’ with the flap to the left which we punch holes in for a ring binder, where we store the year’s lapbooks – handy to pull out and view from when Grandma comes to visit.

2. You can see [L>R] stages, life cycle, days of the week, sorting game [7yoDD helped to colour it in], also pics of food eaten in TVHC book, a butterfly poem he learnt to read and recite clearly, [just bottom right] booklet of word searches, find correct word, vocab words etc.

3. Pocket – food and game pieces downloaded online. He learnt of symmetry and asymmetry when he coloured in butterfly just seen on RHS. Used computer instead of hand printing. Gives a tidier result for the same effort.
